About Simon Strudwick

Laughter and learning are my passions. My unusually diverse industry and personal experiences have shaped me into a big-picture thinker and engineer of dreams, with the technical expertise to develop innovative learning solutions that engage learners and equip them with confidence.

I am well known for identifying goals over symptoms, quickly synthesizing information, and being attuned to details that others miss.

Scuba Instruction

When your classroom is the ocean, you can’t use your voice, and sometimes a passing manta ray will distract your students. The visual communication techniques I learned from teaching SCUBA are one example of how I can bring a unique perspective to overcome learning challenges and break down barriers. I’ve taught young and old, reckless and cautious to confidently explore the world in a different way.

Teaching High School

I honed my teaching skills with the toughest audience: kids. They will tell you exactly what they think. Don’t waste their time – they will call you out. Grab their attention and make the lesson relevant to them – that earns their respect. Leave your students with strong foundations – and prepare them for the future.

Drama and Theatre

Theatre is about creating a shared narrative. Stories move people, and make them feel like they are not alone. Teaching and theatre are about casting that spell, and connecting with your audience on a personal level. And when it is done well, you create something memorable.

Managing Implementations

Over 20 years ago, TD Securities trusted me to keep their IT systems afloat through the Y2K bug, 9/11, and a merger with Canada Trust. Soon after I was opening offices on the London stock exchange, implementing shared systems with Walmart, and testing prototype Blackberry devices. I know my way around technology projects, can help you avoid pitfalls, and I don’t crack under pressure.

Systems Specialist

When you’re at a global investment company and someone’s computer goes down, there can be a lot of money on the line. To solve problems in a changing environment, you develop the skills to learn complicated software within days and disseminate solutions efficiently to your team. I want to help you once, and do it well, so you will be prepared.

Efficient Contracting

When you have to hit the ground running, you must deftly apply what you’ve learned from any industry. I draw on experience in all these areas and beyond:

  • Defence
  • Healthcare
  • Finance
  • Education
  • Tourism
  • Supply chain
  • Retail
  • Government

Each has added unique approaches to my toolkit. As a veteran contractor I have developed authenticity and gravitas, and can balance caution and confidence.
